The Last Siege of Corfe Castle – plaster relief. In the collection of Dorset Museum, Dorchester, and currently on display in the People’s Dorset Gallery, at the Museum.
This plaster relief was cast from the original bronze sculpture by Baron Carlo Marochetti RA (1805 -1867) which forms part of the monument to Charles 1, at Kingston Lacy House, Dorset. The relief measures approximately 120cms x 100cms.
The relief was carefully cleaned, before heavy cracking was stabilized and in-filled. Broken fragments were re-attached, missing details re-modelled and pigment re-touched, to match the existing colour.
