The two beautiful Tudor Roses, in the 13th century church of St. Laurence, at Upwey, Dorset, were painted around 1486, according to church records.
This photograph shows the rose to the Western side of the South-facing wall of the North arcade, where both roses are situated.
The rose painting, including the foliage, had been damaged by water infiltration from a “Clerestory” window above, and part of the design had been washed away.
The lost areas were retouched, using watercolour pigments.
A full report of the work carried out, including photographs, was produced, and is in the church archive.
